Hers and Ro are both popular telehealth companies offering access to licensed healthcare providers and weight loss support services. You can access weight loss medications through both platforms (if a provider determines you’re eligible).
Both Hers and Ro offer access to weight loss injections, such as Wegovy® (semaglutide). But only Hers offers access to oral weight loss medications.
We’re comparing Hers versus Ro for weight loss to help you determine which service will best meet your needs and goals.

The Weight Loss by Hers program offers access to a range of prescription weight loss treatments, including GLP-1s and oral medications. Ro’s weight loss program, called “The Body Program,” offers access to GLP-1s but doesn’t offer oral weight loss meds.
While there’s a lot of overlap, Hers and Ro don’t have identical offerings. Let’s take a look at the weight loss medications you may be eligible for through the Hers platform and compare them to Ro weight loss medications.
Hers offers access to GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications that can help kickstart your weight loss journey, if eligible. GLP-1s promote weight loss by suppressing your appetite, helping keep you fuller longer, and promoting sustained weight loss.
GLP-1 injections available through the Hers platform include:
Wegovy®. Wegovy® (semaglutide) is a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. It is FDA-approved for weight loss in people with obesity or with overweight and a weight-related health condition like high blood pressure and sleep apnea.
Ozempic. This once-weekly injection has the same active ingredient as Wegovy® and was approved by the FDA to treat type 2 diabetes. It’s sometimes prescribed off-label to support weight management.
Generic liraglutide. Liraglutide is the active ingredient in Saxenda® and Victoza®, which are approved for weight management and type 2 diabetes, respectively. It’s a once-daily injection.
Zepbound. Zepbound contains the active ingredient tirzepatide and is FDA-approved specifically for weight management for those who qualify. It’s also administered as a once-weekly injection.
Mounjaro. Mounjaro has the same active ingredient as Zepbound and is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes but prescribed off-label for weight loss. It’s also a weekly injection.
Unlike Ro, Hers offers access to oral weight loss medication kits, which are tailored to your unique needs, weight loss goals, and budget.
Hers weight loss kits may include different combinations of the following medications:
Bupropion. Bupropion is an antidepressant that can be prescribed off-label in combination with other medications to help support weight loss.
Metformin. Metformin is FDA-approved as a diabetes drug and sometimes prescribed off-label for weight loss. The daily pill can suppress appetite and promote insulin sensitivity.
Topiramate. Topiramate is an antiseizure drug that’s prescribed off-label for weight loss. It suppresses appetite, which can make you feel fuller for longer.
Naltrexone. Naltrexone is a prescription medication that helps reduce cravings for alcohol and opioids.
Medication kits may include one or more of the daily pills listed above, along with vitamin B12 for added energy support.
Your provider may start you on a lower dose to help minimize side effects. If needed, you can switch to a different medication kit or make other adjustments — all at no extra cost.
Hers is all about making healthcare feel personal and accessible. For people who are hesitant about starting weight loss medications because of side effects, there’s an option to ask their provider about anti-nausea support.
Prescription ondansetron (generic for Zofran®) can be taken as directed to ease nausea and help you stick with your plan. You may be eligible for ondansetron at no additional cost.
Prescription ondansetron (the generic form of Zofran®) can be taken as needed to help manage nausea. It’s a thoughtful addition that makes starting weight loss treatment feel a little less daunting.
One of the main differences between Hers and Ro is that Hers weight loss medications include oral options and GLP-1 injections, while Ro only offers weight loss injections.
That might be a drawback for some, especially since having more options can make it easier to find a plan that works for your lifestyle and your budget.
Ro offers access to the following GLP-1s:
Zepbound® (tirzepatide)
Ozempic®
Wegovy®
It’s also worth noting that Ro offers access to Zepbound at a slightly reduced cost for people paying without insurance.
Clinical trials have shown that people taking Wegovy® lose up to 20 percent of their body weight over 68 weeks, with diet and exercise*.
Additional research suggests these results can be long-lasting*, especially when the medication is accompanied by healthy habits like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and quality sleep.
*Based on two separate Wegovy® clinical studies. In a 68-week study, about 1 in 3 adults with obesity or overweight and weight-related conditions achieved 20% weight loss. Average weight loss achieved was 15%. In a 104-week study, mean weight loss achieved at 2 years was 15.2% vs. 2.6% for placebo. Individual results may vary. Stopping treatment may result in weight regain.

If you're interested, a licensed provider through Hers can help you figure out the best way to work them into your daily routine.
Alexandra, 37, turned to Hers after previous weight loss attempts left her feeling discouraged.
“For me, it wasn’t just about a number on the scale — it was about energy, mindset, and feeling good in my day-to-day life,” she says. She wanted something personalized and doable, and Hers offered the kind of support and flexibility that made it easier to start.
“From the beginning, it felt collaborative. My provider really listened to what I wanted and helped create a plan that worked for me, not just some generic template.”
The app has been a steady part of her journey. Alexandra uses it to track her progress, stay accountable, and check in with her provider. “I always get quick responses,” she notes. She’s also found that it helps her with nutrition, especially when it comes to protein intake, which helps keep her feeling full and energized.
“I don’t feel the cravings I once did,” says Alexandra. “And when the weight started to come off, it was like this wave of motivation — like, okay, this is working!”*

Holly, 46, used a Hers oral medication kit** to help her break through a frustrating plateau.
“Everything I’ve always done to lose weight and stay on track no longer worked, and it was so disheartening,” she says. She felt dismissed by her doctors and left to figure things out on her own. “I had no idea there were alternatives beyond GLP-1 injections for weight loss,” Holly adds.
After discovering Hers and completing the intake process, she was prescribed oral weight loss medications. “It was really easy to get started. I took the initial survey… downloaded the app, and within just a few hours had my first message[from the care team].”
Over the next few months, Holly started to notice real changes — not just on the scale, but in how she felt day to day. “My mood became more chill related to food … I also noticed increased motivation for my workouts.” She’s since lost about 12 pounds and says, “The body I see in the mirror now makes me feel more like myself again.”*
*Customer's results have not been independently verified. Individual results may vary.
**Hers weight loss kits may include compounded product(s). The FDA does not review compounded products for safety, effectiveness, or quality.
There’s also a range of pricing at Ro, but it can get a little complicated, so we’ll break down the options below:
Ro typically charges an initial consultation fee that may cost up to $99.
Ro often requires metabolic testing before you’re deemed eligible for a prescription. At-home testing kits cost $75.
Ro charges a monthly membership fee of $145 (this does not include the price of medications). For the first month, you can get $100 off, which puts the membership fee at $45.
Ro offers a starter dose of Zepbound for $349 a month, but most people increase their dose after four weeks. The increased maintenance dose of Zepbound from Ro costs $499 a month.
Other branded GLP-1s available through Ro cost up to $1700 a month.
Ro accepts some insurance plans, and only if your plan covers weight loss medications (most don’t). Medications should be FSA and HSA eligible (but plans vary).
Additional consultation and lab fees may apply after 24 visits in one year.
You won’t be charged for Ro’s program or metabolic testing if you’re deemed unsuitable for a prescription.
Ro’s insurance concierge program handles communication with your insurance company (except for customers who are uninsured or those covered by Kaiser), figures out if you need prior authorization (and submit it if you do), and any other benefits-related questions and concerns.
Access to providers. While most check-ins are done via text chat, you can consult healthcare professionals via video chat. You can do up to 24 video sessions per year (included in your membership fee).
Customer service. Ro has a messaging system for customer support. The insurance concierge offering is also baked into the subscription plans.
App support. The Ro app is linked to your personal account. It has three main sections: “Your Body Curriculum” with wellness content, a weight tracker feature, and provider support. You can view your program tracker to see where you are in the treatment timeline.
To access Hers and Ro weight loss medications, you’ll need to get a prescription from one of the licensed healthcare providers operating on these platforms.
The intake process is slightly different for Hers and Ro, even though they ask for much of the same information.
Here’s how Hers works:
Online assessment. Complete an online intake and answer questions about your location, age, weight loss goals, lifestyle habits, and medical history.
Clinician evaluation. After submitting your assessment, a licensed healthcare provider trained in weight management will review your responses and determine whether prescription weight loss treatment might be right for you. There’s usually no need to book a call or video consultation, though it is required in a few states.
Prescription and treatment plan. If eligible, a provider will write you a prescription for weight loss medication, and you’ll get a personalized weight loss treatment plan.
Direct shipping. Medications are shipped to your door at no additional cost. You’ll get everything you need to start treatment, including medication, supplies, and instructions (if applicable).
Unlimited ongoing care. You’ll have 24/7 online access to message providers trained in weight management for follow-ups, medication adjustments, and questions, if needed.
The Ro intake process also starts by calculating your BMI.
You’ll then answer questions about your age, family, and personal health history to determine if you qualify for GLP-1s. In some cases, so, you’ll then submit body photos.
Next, the platform will let you know if lab work is required to get access to medication. This is to test for metabolic conditions, which you can do through Quest Diagnostics or with an at-home test kit.
After you check out, a pop-up will ask if you prefer an at-home, self-administered metabolic test or to make an appointment through Ro’s lab partner (Quest). They’ll walk you through how to do whichever process you choose.
From there, a provider will review your information and labwork online (meaning you won’t need to do a live video chat unless state law requires it). That said, you can schedule a one-on-one video consultation with a Ro-affiliated healthcare provider if you’d prefer to go over the results that way.
Then, if appropriate, your prescription will be filled.
If you’re prescribed medication through the Hers platform, shipping is included at no extra cost. Your shipment could arrive within two to seven days, but shipping times may vary.
It’ll come with all the supplies you need, plus detailed and easy-to-follow instructions.
If your medication requires temperature control, it will be shipped in temperature-controlled packaging.
At Ro, if you’re prescribed GLP-1s, they ship at no extra cost in about a week. In some cases, a pharmacy will fill your prescription, which can take a few weeks.
It could take significantly longer if you’re using Ro’s insurance concierge feature to find out if the cost of your medication will be covered.
Generally speaking, online care for weight loss can be a great option for anyone looking for fast, flexible, affordable, and convenient healthcare.
