Robin has lost 16 pounds in less than three months using Compounded Semaglutide treatment through Hers.
Before starting Compounded Semaglutide treatment, Robin Seale, a 37-year-old mom and labor and delivery nurse based in Houston, TX left each 12-hour night shift exhausted, with her enormous caffeine intake causing her to crash, and her anxious eating pattern driving her to lots of pre-packaged, highly processed foods that weren't doing her any nutritional favors. The sleep she so badly needed was not restful, which interfered with intentional family time.
For Robin, losing weight on GLP-1s has helped her do what matters most to her: more time with her family, having enough energy to exercise after her long shifts, and getting the kind of sleep that allows her to recharge so she can be present with her husband and teen daughter at home and with her patients at work.Â
Today, Hims & Hers announced a 50% discount on subscriptions that include the most common dosages of compounded semaglutide GLP-1 injections* for all U.S. military, veterans, teachers, nurses and first responders, so that more Americans like Robin can access GLP-1s.
We sat down with Robin to learn more about her story.

Can you share more about your weight loss journey?
Like many people who struggle with their weight, I did all the “right” things before deciding to try Compounded Semaglutide treatment.
It started with the combination of nursing school and having my daughter, that led to habits like stress eating that contributed to weight gain. After I graduated from nursing school, I was determined to find a long-term solution for my health. Early in my career, I was prescribed an oral weight loss medication and saw positive results. As my work in nursing got stressful, it became more difficult to keep the weight off. My stress eating picked back up, and I gained all the weight back.
I exercised, dieted, and drank water, but with aging and working overnight shifts, I could not get the scale to budge. My doctor suspected that a hormonal issue could be the cause of my inability to lose weight, and suggested that I’d benefit from injectable medication. This was when I was first prescribed a branded daily GLP-1 injection.Â
At first, it was covered by insurance, and I saw successful results. Then, my insurance changed and, like many Americans today, I was unable to access GLP-1s unless I paid out-of-pocket. So, I went without the medication for about one year. Once again, I did all the “right” things, but despite my efforts, I stayed the same weight. With my demanding work schedule, I knew that I needed help. I decided to start Compounded Semaglutide treatment again, but this time, I wanted to find a reliable and affordable option.
I discovered Hers and found that the process was super simple. I liked the convenience of accessing everything online, that I wouldn’t have to disrupt my busy schedule to see a provider in person, and that the treatment would be shipped directly to my house. I signed up and received my first treatment on my doorstep about three months ago. I weighed 184 pounds when I started, and I now weigh 168 pounds. I’m proud to be just 8 pounds away from my goal weight!
You shared that you’re a nurse. How has taking GLP-1s affected your work?
I’ve definitely experienced an increase in my energy. Before taking GLP-1’s, and especially because I worked the night shift, I relied heavily on caffeine to keep me energized through the night, but I would get home exhausted from the effects of a large caffeine intake. Since I’ve lost weight using GLP-1s, my energy is at an all-time high from being at a healthier weight. I’m also sleeping better, which has given me the energy to exercise when I get off of work.Â
Why did you choose Hers?
Access, affordability, and convenience. I chose Hers because I knew it was a very reputable company that I could trust, and I was confident in the offerings. As an exhausted nurse who works 12-hour shifts, I don’t have time to go to a doctor’s office every week for treatment. It was also affordable for me. The ease and convenience of the platform, the ability to chat with a licensed healthcare provider through the app, and the treatment including all the supplies needed to safely self-inject, made signing up for Hers a no-brainer.Â
It’s common for people to have questions and concerns before starting Compounded Semaglutide treatment. What were yours?Â
My husband’s experience cemented my decision to use Hers. Due to challenges with insurance coverage, he was paying $450 a month out-of-pocket and was faced with weekly in-person appointments in order to get treatment. It was difficult for him with his busy work schedule, it was unaffordable, and he had to stop treatment as a result. He recently signed up for the Hims Weight Loss Program and was prescribed Compounded Semaglutide treatment, and has been very satisfied with the ease and affordability of accessing treatment.Â
I had no hesitation when signing up for Hers. As a medical professional, I felt confident in the safety and effectiveness of care I would receive through the Hims & Hers platform.Â
The Hers app is a big part of the experience for GLP-1 users. What was it like for you when you decided to sign up on the platform?
Using the Hers platform has been so smooth. I did not have to wait long to hear from a medical provider on my eligibility, and within a couple of days, the medicine was arriving at my door. The platform gives me the opportunity to set my weekly injection reminder based on the date and time that works best for my hectic schedule, and I can easily chat with my healthcare provider if I have any questions at all, any time of the day.
It’s incredibly useful to be able to track all the aspects of weight loss, like water intake, exercise, and protein intake, as well as the behavior tracker, which has been helpful in understanding my eating patterns. The app shares helpful content for anxious eaters, and provides tips and advice on how to break those habits.Â
How do you feel now after being on Compounded Semaglutide treatment through Hers for nearly 3 months?
It’s helped so much with my confidence. I was one of those people that hated taking pictures because I didn’t like how I looked. As I’ve lost weight, I feel more confident in my body and more confident taking photos. I also feel better and have increased energy. When I’m off from work, I am able to do more things with my family because I’m not tired all the time.Â
It has been wonderful seeing results because it can get discouraging when you’re exercising and doing everything right, and the scale won’t budge. My experience with compounded GLP-1s through Hers has changed my life tremendously. Â
We’re excited to be able to offer our first-ever weight loss subscription discount for first responders like you in an effort to provide access to even more affordable, personalized weight loss care for our community heroes. What do you wish more people understood about how hard it is for first responders to care for themselves?
When you're giving so much to others, it can be hard to give back to yourself. Frontline healthcare workers, like me, have busy schedules, and it can feel daunting to go to the doctor to get the care you need, and even more daunting when you can't access it. I'm so thankful that Hims & Hers is making it easier for people like me to do something so important for our health by providing access to reliable healthcare at an affordable price.
