Minoxidil is clinically proven to regrow hair in 3-6 months.† It takes time for hair to grow (on average, hair grows half an inch a month). Consistency is the key to seeing results, so stick with it.
1-3 months - Some shedding may occur while follicles work hard to make way for new hair
3-6 months - New baby hairs begin to fill in as hair loss slows its roll
6+ months - Thin areas become less noticeable, with improved hair density and scalp coverage
Minoxidil can cause additional shedding at first, as your hair growth cycle is resetting, allowing new hair to grow in. This improves with continued use, which means the treatment is working. Shedding is totally normal in the first 2-4 weeks of treatment, so hang in there and trust the process.
With oral minoxidil, you may notice an extra hair or two growing in other places, like your body. We know that additional hair growth isn't ideal, but it's a possible side effect of oral treatments. That said, shaving, plucking, or waxing should do the trick. You can also talk to a provider about switching to a topical treatment that won't cause additional hair growth.
Always reach out to a provider if you experience any side effects. Questions and follow-up care with a licensed provider are included with Hers.
