If you have female pattern baldness, even without a family history of hair loss, then minoxidil may be effective for you. Female pattern baldness is marked by overall thinning of the crown, or the top of your head (as opposed to crown and hairline commonly seen in male pattern baldness). Hair regrowth with minoxidil takes time. Continued use 2 times a day for at least 3-6 months is usually when new hair growth becomes noticeable. To keep the new hair that you grew with the help of minoxidil, you must continue using it. Once you stop using minoxidil, the normal hair loss process will start up again, including your newly grown hair.
